The First Give programme is designed to ignite a spark of social conscience in young people. We partner with secondary schools, supporting them to deliver the programme with a full year group. The programme is suitable for delivery with any year group from Year 7 through to Year 10.
How it works:
- Learn: Students learn about social issues in their communities and choose the issues which are important to them.
- Research: Students research charities working in their communities and as a class, choose one to represent.
- Meet: Charities are invited in to meet the class, so that students can learn more about their work and how to help them.
- Plan & Deliver: Students plan and deliver social action activities (fundraising, awareness raising, volunteering) in support of their charities.
- Present: Students learn public speaking skills and put together creative presentations about the work of their charity and what their class has done to support it.
- School Final: One group is chosen to represent each class at your school’s First Give Final. A panel of judges rate each class based on their social action and presentations. The winning class wins a First Give grant of £1,000 for their charity.

802’s Story
802 would like to raise money for families that are confronted with the news their child has a life-shortening conditions.
- The money will help to provide not only superb nursing care, hydrotherapy, creative therapy but also to organise, and fund fun days out to create special memories for these families.
- The money will provide end of life care, bereavement support and counselling. We have chosen this charity because we would like to help Forget Me Not support families to make the most of every moment they have together.
- 802 feel this is so important and they really hope that as a community we can pull together to help make memories and ensure that their last moments together are really special.
- Please support us by donating to our just giving page, supporting families with their precious final moments together.
- Click here for our First Giving page for people to donate.
- 802 would like to ask the Beckfoot Community to donate a new teddy bear that will be given to the ‘Forget me not’ Children’s hospice at Christmas. We will wrap these and deliver them, so the children know we care about them. Just one teddy bear could put a smile on a very poorly child’s face. Making them smile in their last few moments is important and the reason for our cause. Please hand your teddy into H7.
